Government approves Czech position for NATO summit
President Petr Pavel has received the government's document setting out the Czech delegation's position for next week's NATO summit in Ankara, the Czech news website Novinky.cz reported on Thursday.
According to the document, cited by Novinky, Czechia will reaffirm its support for Ukraine and commit to gradually increasing defence spending to five percent of GDP by 2035. The document also says NATO should maintain its long-term commitment to supporting Ukraine, including after the war ends.
Strengthening air and counter-drone defence is another Czech priority for the summit. Pavel welcomed the government's commitment to continued support for Ukraine in a post on X.
