Government approves bonuses for health workers, compensation for entrepreneurs

The government has approved special bonuses for health and social workers in recognition of their extraordinary service during the coronavirus crisis.

According to Health Minister Jan Blatný medical staff in hospitals will receive CZK 75,000 each, similarly as they did last year. Care workers in social services will receive CZK 15,000 to 50,000. The money is to be paid out in April.

The government also approved two basic compensation programs for entrepreneurs, which should replace the multitude of programs introduced since the start of the crisis.

The main criterion for eligibility for both is a drop in income by at least 50 percent year-on-year.

Entrepreneurs will either be able to file for 500 to 1,500 crowns per employee per day, or for 60 percent of the lost income. The compensation will be paid out retroactively from January 11, 2021.
