Germany to abolish gas transport fee for Czechia as of next year
Germany has assured Czech officials that the fee for transporting gas to Czechia should be abolished as of the beginning of 2025, Deputy Industry Minister Štěpán Hofman told Czech Television after a meeting of energy ministers in Brussels. The Czech Republic has sought to abolish the fee for a long time, arguing the negative impact of the German fee on gas prices for Czech consumers, as the country decreases its dependence on Russian gas. A decision to abolish the fee has already been approved by the federal government and is waiting for approval in the German Bundestag, Hofman said.
