German defence minister honours Czechoslovak paratroopers from Operation Anthropoid
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has honoured the memory of the Czechoslovak paratroopers who died following Operation Anthropoid, the plot to assassinate the Nazi governor Reinhard Heydrich.
Mr Pistorius visited the Orthodox Church of Sts. Cyril and Methodius on Resslova Street in Prague, where the paratroopers were holed up and were either killed or committed suicide after a long battle with Nazi troops.
The German defence minister also met with his Czech counterpart Jana Černochová to discuss the joint purchase of some Leopard 2A8 battle tanks. Czechia would like to purchase at least 77 of these, Ms Černochová announced at a press conference after the meeting.
