Garnet mining in north Bohemia to continue
The authorities in north Bohemia have authorized the continued mining of garnets in the region, Czech Radio reported. The Ústí nad Labem local government approved a plan for the Turnov company Granat to extend a previously established mining area in the vicinity this year. The company plans to transport up to 25,000 tonnes of geological material to a nearby processing plant annually. The garnet reserves in the area are expected to last for another 25 years. According to the regional authorities there is no need to prepare a new environmental impact assessment.
