Fuel prices expected to rise as government regulation ends

The Czech government's temporary fuel price regulation and reduced excise duty on diesel ended on Monday, a move analysts say will lead to a noticeable increase in prices.

At the weekend, the price ceiling was 43.41 crowns per litre for petrol and 42.13 crowns for diesel. Experts predict that fuel prices at motorway stations could rise by three to four crowns above the national average, with diesel approaching 47 crowns per litre.

Experts also expect the price gap between motorway service stations, Prague and the rest of the country to widen.
