Fruit harvest in Czech Republic expected to fall by 53% after spring frosts
This year's fruit harvest in the Czech Republic is expected to drop by 53 percent compared with last year due to severe spring frosts, falling from 146,243 tonnes in 2025 to 68,445 tonnes. Compared with the average of the past five years, the harvest is forecast to be 44 percent lower, according to an estimate carried out by the Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture as of 15 June. The Czech Fruit Growers' Union estimates growers' revenue losses will exceed CZK 1 billion.
In the long term, this is expected to be the second-lowest fruit harvest in the modern history of Czech fruit growing. The lowest harvest of the past century came in 2024, when spring frosts reduced production to 48,058 tonnes.
