Friday brings highest daily Covid increase since start of pandemic

Laboratories in the Czech Republic registered 22, 936 new cases of Covid-19 cases on Friday, the highest daily increase since the start of the pandemic.

The incidence number in the Czech Republic has now reached 929 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The death toll has crossed the 32,000 mark.4,890 people are presently hospitalized with Covid, 724 of them are in intensive care.

Many hospitals have had to ask the army for help. Soldiers are now helping out in 24 hospitals and are due to appear in 15 more facilities on Monday. More requests are being made daily.

The government this week announced a significant tightening of the anti-Covid measures in place, due to come into force on Monday.
