Fresh record number of Covid cases registered Wednesday
Some 17,688 new cases of Covid-19 were detected in the Czech Republic on Wednesday, according to official data. This is a record number for a single day and exceeds a previous high seen one day earlier.
There are now 132,725 known active cases of the virus in the country, which is also a record since the pandemic hit 10 months ago.
Some 7,143 people are in hospital with Covid-19, with over a 1,000 of them in a critical condition.
The latest figure for total coronavirus deaths in the Czech Republic is 12,621.
