Freedom and Direct Democracy Party to obstruct debate on pandemic and postal vote bills

Tomio Okamura, leader of the Freedom and Direct Democracy Party in the lower house, has confirmed that his party would continue to obstruct the debate on the government’s bill on a postal vote for Czechs abroad and a proposed amendment to the pandemic law. Mr. Okamura said it was his party’s aim to try to prevent their approval by the ruling coalition, which has a comfortable 108 seat majority in the lower house. The Freedom and Direct Democracy Party days that the pandemic law as such is an attack on people’s fundamental rights and freedoms, while the law which would give Czechs abroad the right to vote by post allegedly presents a risk of manipulation with votes.
