Fourteen personalities receive Karel Kramář medal for outstanding services to the state

Prime Minister Petr Fiala on Thursday awarded the Karel Kramář medal to 14 personalities for their outstanding contribution to promoting human rights and freedoms, building a free and democratic society, independent journalism and scientific and cultural development. Among the laureates were senator and former speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, Miroslava Němcová,  former spokesperson for Charter 77 and former head of the counterintelligence service (BIS) Stanislav Devátý, and sculptor and painter Jaroslav Róna.

The Karel Kramář medal is awarded by the prime minister for outstanding services to democracy and human rights. It was created in honour of the first Czechoslovak prime minister Karel Kramář.
