Former Prague archbishop Duka against abolition of celibacy
Archbishop Emeritus of Prague Dominik Duka has spoken out against the abolition of celibacy in the Catholic Church. He made the statement in connection with an interview in which Pope Frances said priestly celibacy could be revised and was not eternal like priestly ordination. The Pope said celibacy in the Western Church is a temporary prescription that could be settled in one way or another. Duka told the ctk news agency he regarded this as a theoretic reflection and did not think that the time had come for such a change.
