Former Constitutional Court judge Jiří Nykodým dies at 81

Lawyer and former Constitutional Court judge Jiří Nykodým has died at the age of 81. The court announced his death on its website.

Nykodým served on the Constitutional Court from 2003 to 2013 after being nominated by then-president Václav Klaus.

During his ten-year term, Nykodým played a key role in the court's work, particularly in cases involving fundamental rights and freedoms, healthcare law, family law, criminal law, and election-related disputes, the court's Secretary General Vlastimil Göttinger said.
