Foreign Ministry negotiating evacuation of four Czechs in conflict-torn Sudan
The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs is aware of four Czechs who are currently in Sudan and is either direct or indirect contact with them through the relevant companies that they work for, ministry spokesman Daniel Drake said on Thursday.
The four individuals are on the ministry’s evacuation list and the relevant Czech Embassy in Cairo is discussing the possibility of moving them out of Sudan with other EU member states. However, at the moment, evacuation isn’t possible, as the airports are closed and fighting continues, Mr Drake said according to the Czech News Agency.
Fighting erupted between the Sudanese army and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitaries last week. Thousands of civilians have since fled Sudan's capital of Khartoum.
