Foreign Ministry: Czechia standing by Ukraine

The Czech Republic will continue to stand by Ukraine and provide it with all possible support on the way to restoring its territorial integrity and integrating into Euro-Atlantic structures, the Czech Foreign Ministry says in a statement issued on the third anniversary of the start of the war.

Three years ago, tens of thousands of Russian soldiers invaded Ukraine with the aim of killing a president elected in free elections, overthrowing a democratically elected government, murdering as many Ukrainians as possible, subverting the entire country and using it as an instrument of attack against other states, the statement says.

The ministry warns against a policy of appeasement saying that Russia's aggression is not only aimed at destroying Ukraine, but also at weakening Europe’s freedom, prosperity and security architecture.

The ministry further expresses support for President Zelensky, who was elected in democratic elections, and calls for a just and lasting peace based on the principles of the UN Charter.
