Forbes: Czech billionaire now biggest shareholder in Britain’s troubled Royal Mail
Czech billionaire Daniel Křetínský and his junior partner Patrik Tkáč, a Slovak financier, are now the largest shareholders in Britain’s postal service, via their fund Vesa Equity Investment, Forbes magazine reports.
This May, Vesna bought a 5.3 percent stake in the Royal Mail, which was privatised in 2013 and later listed in London. The fund has since gradually increased its stake to over 13 percent, regulatory filings show.
Křetínský has shown a growing appetite for strategic investments in troubled foreign assets, including the French newspaper Le Monde, German retail giant Metro, and Macy’s department store in New York.
