First floating electric plant opens in Czechia

The first Czech photovoltaic electric plant to float on water was installed in Štěchovice in Central Bohemia. The 22kW facility floats atop of a water reservoir that is part of the local hydroelectric plant. Its power output is set to quintuple by the summer. If the project is deemed successful, it will open another source for potential carbon neutral energy sources. A further benefit lies in the fact that, because the photovoltaic panels help prevent water evaporation from the surrounding area, it is not necessary to close off neighbouring farmland.
