Fire at Zlín factory contained, firefighters continue operations
Firefighters have brought a major blaze at a factory complex in the eastern Czech city of Zlín under control after containing the fire overnight.
The alert level has been lowered to third on a four point scale, but extinguishing work is expected to continue throughout Friday. Firefighters will again be assisted by a helicopter.
No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The blaze broke out on Thursday morning in a historic 11-storey building, believed to have started on the ninth floor in a warehouse used by Czech footwear company Vasky. Parts of the building collapsed during the fire, leaving roughly one-third of the structure standing.
