Fire at plastic waste dump near Kladno still not under control

Around 250 firefighters continue to fight a blaze at a plastic waste dump in Rynholc near Kladno. A thick black column of smoke could be seen from all over Prague and much of the Central Bohemian Region in the early hours of Tuesday. The fire started on Monday at around 6 pm and firefighters have so far not been able to bring the blaze under control. A special fire alert has been declared. The situation remains serious, firefighters reported on Tuesday morning. Paramedics have already had to treat 12 firefighters, most of them due to overheating, one suffered burns. The fire covers an area of about 200×200 metres, the dump was 5 metres high and the flames are reaching a height of 15 metres. 36 firefighting units are currently at the scene with more than 100 pieces of equipment.
