Fine imposed on four parties for election campaign violations

The Office for Economic Supervision of Political Parties and Political Movements  has so far issued four fines related to this year’s parliamentary elections, according to its website. The penalties affect the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), the Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) party, the Motorists’ Party, and the non-parliamentary Right Bloc. Fines range from CZK 10,000 (EUR 411) to CZK 35,000 (EUR 1,438).

SPD and ODS received the highest and second-highest fines for failing to ensure that all their campaign materials listed the sponsor and those responsible for producing them. The Motorists’ Party received the second-highest fine for using - or allowing the use of - media controlled by local authorities for their campaign, while the Right Bloc was fined the least for violating accounting regulations.
