Finance minister reveals details about national plan for tackling energy crisis
The Czech government would like to cap electricity prices for households, schools and hospitals, Finance Minister Zbyněk Stanjura told Czech Television on Sunday. He also said that he will recommend to the government that electricity prices be guaranteed for the whole industrial sector, even though this carries risks as it could be interpreted as unauthorized public support.
The minister said that he would like to see electricity prices for businesses capped at EUR 200 per megawatt hour. He was unwilling to disclose the planned price cap for households, but said that it should be high enough to cover electricity producers’ costs and allow them an appropriate profit.
The government’s national plan for tackling the energy crisis should be unveiled next week.
