Film festival guests fined for ignoring rule on compulsory respirators

Hygiene officers in the Karlovy Vary region have started meting out fines to some prominent visitors  to the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival who attended the gala opening ceremony without respirators. The event took place at Hotel Thermal on August 20th and numerous photographs of the event published show that the vast majority of guests were unprotected. The fine for violating the rule on compulsory respirators ranges from 500 to 3,000 crowns. The organizers have apologized for the lapse.  The Karlovy Vary region presently has the highest incidence of new Covid cases in the country.
