Filip remains chairman of Communist Party

Vojtěch Filip will remain chairman of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia. While the majority of delegates at a Central Committee meeting in Nymburk on Saturday were in favour of Mr. Filip’s removal, the necessary two-thirds of all members of the body were lacking to effect such a change.

Mr. Filip said he wished to remain in the post until October’s general elections. Aged 66, he has headed the Communists since 2005.
