Fig trees thriving in southern Moravia as weather patterns change

While the harvest of traditional crops is relatively poor due to this summer’s heat waves, fig trees are now thriving in southern Moravia, Novinky.cz reported on Sunday. Many fig bushes in the region are laden with fruit in scenes bringing to mind Croatia or Italy, the news site said.

A local botanist said fig trees were becoming an attractive fruit crop in southern Moravia and that the fruit could even replace traditional apricots in the future.
