Fiala: working with Ukraine advantageous for both sides
Working with Ukraine is not only about helping the country in its fight against the Russian invasion, it is actually advantageous for both sides, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on Tuesday evening at a press conference after a day of intergovernmental negotiations between ministers from his cabinet and that of Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Prague.
Exports to Ukraine have increased by a quarter compared to before the full-scale Russian invasion, he said, which brings a range of opportunities for people in both countries. The Czech prime minister also sees potential for further growth in modernising nuclear power plants in Ukraine.
After the joint meeting, ministers from the two governments signed five memoranda on departmental cooperation in areas such as energy, trade, and healthcare.
The Ukrainian prime minister was also received by Czech President Petr Pavel at Prague Castle in the afternoon.
