Fiala: We must go in the direction of setting maximum prices for energy

It is necessary to go in the direction of setting maximum prices for energy, Prime Minister Petr Fiala told the Chamber of Deputies on Friday, adding that the solution to the problem must be reached on the EU level. The Czech head of government said that he has been discussing the energy crisis with several EU members and is in the process of securing support from other member states as well.

Mr Fiala said that Czechia will call for an extraordinary meeting of EU ministers responsible for energy in order to find a solution to the crisis. He also said that the government has prepared several methods of how to transform the country’s major energy company ČEZ, which the state owns a majority share in, that would bring production and cost setting in the domestic electric energy market under the control of the state next year
