Fiala on Russia-Ukraine tensions

The Czech government is prepared for all the possible scenarios that could follow the build-up of Russia troops by Ukraine’s border, including an interruption of energy supplies, the Czech prime minister, Petr Fiala, said on Saturday. In a four-minute video address, Mr. Fiala said neither war nor ill-conceived concessions would resolve the situation.

The PM said Moscow was visibly trying to weaken and divide the Czech Republic and referred to a Russian attack on Czech territory in 2014 that left two dead.

Mr. Fiala said unity and an uncompromising stance were the best ways to deter Russian aggression.
