Experts call for Covid tests in schools in districts with high infection rates

A group of experts centred around epidemiologist Petr Smejkal are recommending that testing for Covid-19 be introduced at local level in schools in districts with infection rates of over 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The call comes in response to a fresh rise in Covid numbers in the Czech Republic.

The specialists say that the tests should be targeted at pupils and students who have not been vaccinated or tested positive for Covid in the last six months.

They have also called for testing in companies if the infection rate passes 200 per 100,000.
