Ex-National Theatre Opera soloist Marcela Machotková dies at 90

Marcela Machotková, a renowned former soloist at the National Theatre Opera has died at the age of 90.

Born in Turnov, she began her singing career at the FX Šalda Theatre in Liberec. She spent much of the 1960s in Pilsen before joining the National Theatre in Prague, where she performed for nearly two decades.

Machotková received the Thalia Award for Lifetime Achievement in Opera soon after retiring from the stage.
