Event to mark 205th anniversary of Czech National Museum
A commemorative event marking the 205th anniversary of the foundation of the Czech National Museum will take place on Wednesday at the historical building on top of Wenceslas Square. The gathering will be attended by President Petr Pavel, Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Culture Minister Martin Baxa.
The event will also mark the 225th anniversary of the birth of the historian František Palacký, one of the leaders of the Czech national revival. The National Museum is the largest institution of its kind in Czechia. Its building opened in May 1891 and has recently undergone a major reconstruction.
