European Union accession should not dramatically increase food prices in CR

When the Czech Republic joins the European Union food prices should rise in accordance with the prices of agricultural products, though European Commission insiders predict undramatic rises in both sectors. Food prices in the country have risen considerably in the last twelve years.

Food prices in the country have risen considerably in the last twelve years. Whereas milk for example cost minus 50 percent of the EU average in 1991, in the year 2000 it cost minus 28 percent of the EU average. The Czech Republic hopes to join the EU in 2004.
