EU leaders back Czech Republic in its dispute with Russia
The presidents and prime ministers of the EU member states have expressed full solidarity with the Czech Republic in its dispute with Russia over the 2014 Vrbětice blasts. At an EU summit in Brussels on Monday night, EU leaders adopted a resolution condemning "illegal, provocative and destructive Russian activities against EU member states and elsewhere”, expressing support for the Czech Republic and backing its tough response to the incident in expelling all Russian agents from the country and cutting down on the number of Russian embassy staff.
The EU leaders agreed to continue with the current approach to Russia, which is a combination of pressure for the country to comply with international law and support for cooperation in areas of common interest.
