EU Council President to meet Czech PM in Prague

EU Council President Charles Michel is due to hold talks in Prague on Thursday with Prime Minister Petr Fiala to discuss the Czech Presidency in the second half of this year.

Fiala’s five-member coalition government wants to increase the budget for the Czech presidency of the European Council from the 1.4 billion crowns budgeted by the Babiš government – nearly three times less than for the first Czech presidency in 2009.

Preperations for and the focus of the Czech EU presidency is currently being discussed in Prague at the annual meeting of ambassadors to European countries.
