Employers will have to contribute to private pension savings for workers in physically demanding jobs

The Chamber of Deputies has approved an amendment to the law according to which employers in the Czech Republic will be required to contribute to private pension savings for workers in physically demanding jobs. According to the amendment, the mandatory employer contribution will amount to four percent of an employee’s gross salary. The measure applies to workers exposed to excessive physical strain, extreme temperatures, cold, or vibrations. The financial contribution should enable people in these professions to retire early, without excessively taxing the pension system. It should come into force in January 2026.
