Electricity production in Czechia lowest in 18 years
Production of electricity in the Czech Republic in 2020 was the lowest in 18 years, the Energy Regulatory Office announced on Thursday.
The figure was 6.4 percent lower than in 2019 and the lowest since 2002. Overall electricity consumption dropped by 3.5 percent to 71.4 TWh, which represents a five-year low.
According to the Energy Regulatory Office, the main reason behind the low energy production and consumption is the coronavirus outbreak.
On the contrary, household electricity consumption has been fuelled by the pandemic, increasing by nearly five percent year-on-year.
