Education Ministry to give free lunches, snacks to poor Karlovy Vary, Ústí region pre-schoolers
Preschool children from poor families in the Karlovy Vary and Ústí nad Labem regions will be entitled to free lunches and snacks in kindergartens as of September.
The Ministry of Education said the aim is to motivate socially disadvantaged families to enrol their children in pre-schools, and the project should be extended to other regions.
The Ministry plans to distribute 20 million crowns for that purpose this coming school year through non-profits, noting that pre-school enrolment increases the later chances of success in school.
