Education Minister to resign from office due to health reasons

Czechia’s Minister of Education Vladimír Balaš will resign his position on his own initiative due to health reasons, the Czech News Agency reported on Thursday, adding that the resignation is still being discussed within the leadership of his party – the Mayors and Independents.

Mr Balaš has held the office since July 2022. According to news site Senzam Zprávy, he will most likely be replaced by the current European Affairs Minister Mikuláš Bek who is part of the Mayors and Independents party leadership. Mr Bek’s position should in turn be filled by Deputy Foreign Minister Martin Dvořák.
