ECP meeting in Prague hailed a success

The goal of the European Political Community is for the countries of Europe to work together for peace and prosperity on the Continent," Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said at the inaugural meeting of 44 countries in Prague on Thursday. He said the platform has been established at a critical time for Europe when the Continent’s security and stability were threatened and welcomed the fact that so many countries had responded to the call to address these issues.

The initiator of the new platform, French President Emmanuel Macron, highlighted the fact that the concept of pan-European cooperation had brought to the negotiating table the leaders of states divided by conflict, such as Azerbaijan and Armenia or Armenia and Turkey. He stressed the need to involve as many countries as possible in the ongoing debate on security, migration, and the energy crisis.

It was agreed that the next EPC meeting will take place in Moldova.

On Friday, EU leaders will meet for an informal summit to discuss the most pressing issues facing the 27-member bloc, such as the war in Ukraine, the rising costs of energy and its economic ramifications.
