Dukovany project firm to appeal court order blocking contract signing
The company Elektrárna Dukovany II (EDU II), which oversees the nuclear tender for the Dukovany project, will file a cassation complaint with the Supreme Administrative Court in response to a preliminary injunction issued by the Brno Regional Court. The court’s order temporarily blocks the signing of the final contract. EDU II CEO Petr Závodský confirmed the company’s intention to appeal.
The Brno court issued the injunction at the request of French energy firm EDF, which filed a lawsuit challenging a ruling by the Czech Competition Authority (ÚOHS) that had cleared the tender process. EDU II—80% owned by the Czech state and 20% by utility company ČEZ—had planned to sign the contract today, but the court’s decision has postponed that step. The court has not yet ruled on EDF’s lawsuit itself.
