Doctors record highest number of hepatitis A cases since 2009

Doctors have recorded more than 1,000 cases of hepatitis A by the end of July this year. Last year, there were 636 cases for the entire year. This data comes from the National Institute of Public Health (SZÚ), and this year’s number of infections is the highest in the past 15 years. In June, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) also warned about the spread of the disease in Central Europe, with Slovakia, Austria, and Hungary also affected.
