Deadline for online census submissions extended to May 11

The Czech Statistical Office has extended the deadline to complete the national census online to May 11 in part due to technical problems stemming from heavy traffic to the site. Originally, the deadline was set for April 9.

The census began just after midnight on Friday. As of Sunday evening, more than 1.5 million forms had already been processed, despite the frequent initial inaccessibility of the site and other glitches.

All Czech citizens and foreigners with permanent residence in the country or present here for more than 90 days as of the start of the census must complete the survey or face a fine of up to 10,000 crowns.
