Dates for upcoming “quarantine” Senate elections announced
The upcoming elections into the Czech Senate will take place on September 30 and October 1, 2020, president Miloš Zeman announced on Tuesday. If a second round of elections will be necessary, the vote will take place on October 7. Voting in special residential facilities, such as care homes, will be possible on October 1, with the subsequent second round taking place on October 8, Castle spokesman Jiří Ovčáček wrote on Twitter.
The upcoming elections will be unique in that they follow a new, recently singed law that introduces special rules to make it possible for people who are in forced quarantine to vote. These individuals will be able to either vote from their car at specially designated “drive-in” voting stations, or vote from home upon requesting a visit from a special voting commission team.
