Danger of spontaneous explosion of WWII bomb found near Litvínov is over
The danger of a spontaneous explosion of a WWII aerial bomb on the grounds of a chemical plant near Litvínov in North Bohemia is over, the police announced on Tuesday. Pyrotechnicians and firefighters are continuing preparations for its controlled denotation, which is scheduled for Thursday or Friday.
Experts determined that the bomb, discovered on the site of the chemical plant on August 21, could spontaneously explode within 144 hours after being pulled out of the ground by an excavator.
As a safety measure, the factory has been shut down, and a security perimeter has been set up until the bomb is safely disposed of.
