Dagmar Havlová withdraws consent for Václav Havel Library to use former president’s name
Dagmar Havlová has withdrawn her consent for the Václav Havel Library to use the former president’s name, according to a statement she provided to the Czech News Agency (ČTK) on Tuesday.
In the statement, Havlová said she no longer wished to bear responsibility for the way Havel’s name is being used and had lost confidence in the library’s current leadership and direction.
The Václav Havel Library requires permission related to the personal rights associated with Havel’s name in order to continue operating under its current title.
David Dušek, chairman of the library’s board of trustees, said the board was assessing the situation and awaiting further information from Havlová’s legal representative.
