Czech’s willingness to help Ukraine declining

The willingness of Czechs to help refugees from Ukraine has been declining, suggests a survey released by the STEM agency on Thursday. Some 53 percent of people approved of the aid in mid-June, down by 11 percentage points compared to April. According to STEM, the decline is related to people’s concerns about the development of the economic situation.

The number of people who fundamentally reject aid to refugees has also increased, from 16 percent in April to 26 percent in May. The survey also shows that almost six out of ten people consider it right that Czechia accepts refugees fleeing from Ukraine, compared to seven out of ten in April.
