Czechs stun Canada 5:2 in World Junior Hockey Championship opener
The Czech team stunned Canada 5:2 in the opening game of the World Junior Hockey Championship on Monday. The Czech juniors’ team achieved their first win against the defending champions and hot favourites in nine years despite an opening goal scored by Shane Wright. Defenders David Špaček and David Moravec turned the tide, scoring 33 seconds apart during a five-minute power play. Stanislav Svozil, David Špaček and David Moravec upped the score to five and Tomas Suchánek was stellar in making 36 saves.
