Czechs start voting in European Parliament elections

Czechs have started going to the polls to cast their ballots in the European Parliament elections, with 674 candidates from 30 parties and coalitions running for the country’s 21 seats in the assembly.

Although Czechia is the only country where voting is possible over the course of two days, voter turnout usually lags behind the EU average.

Polling stations opened at 2 p.m. on Friday and will close at 2 p.m. on Saturday at around 14,800 locations across the country. The official results of the European Parliament elections will be announced on Sunday night, June 9, after voting ends in all EU member states.
