Czechs to play opening game at World Championship against Denmark on Friday

The Czech national ice hockey team will play their opening game at the 89th IIHF World Championship in Fribourg on Friday.

Their opening opponents in Group B will be Denmark, the surprise semi-finalists of last year’s world championship in Stockholm and Herning. The game is scheduled to start at 20:20 local time.

Coach Radim Rulík and his team face two games in as many days at the start of the tournament, with a match against Slovenia scheduled on Saturday.
