Czechs looking for “moderate, cultured, impartial” head of state

Moderate, cultured, and impartial –those are the main traits that Czechs would like to see in their next head of state, according to the outcome of a flash poll conducted for Seznam.cz. Forty percent  of respondents would do away with the president’s prerogative to grant pardons without limitations, and about the same number would give the head of state the right to propose new laws. People also want the head of state to represent the country well abroad, and unite the nation rather than dividing people with provocative, strong statements. More than three quarters of respondents said that the gender of the future head of state is not decisive.
