Czechs beat US to advance to semi-finals in hockey worlds

Czechia beat the USA 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the Ice Hockey World Championship on Thursday evening. Czech goalie Lukáš Dostál stopped 36 shots by the US team in Prague, frustrating all their opportunities to score. An ecstatic home crowd celebrated a 1-0 verdict thanks to Pavel Zacha's goal at 26:29.

On Saturday afternoon the Czechs will be playing in the semi-finals against Sweden for their chance to compete for a gold medal against either Canada or Switzerland, depending on the outcome of the second semi-final four hours later.
